Last year, we raised over $30,000 to allow refugee, immigrant and disadvantaged children to attend summer camp. This year, in addition to giving children in Canada the chance to attend camp, we're expanding our impact by also supporting the Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative, which is a global partnership committed to ending the use and recruitment of child soldiers worldwide, through ground-breaking research, advocacy, and security-sector training.

About the Event

Please join us at 5:45 on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 for an exclusive evening with General Roméo Dallaire and a screening of "Fight Like Soldiers, Die Like Children", a documentary film based on Gen. Dallaire's best selling memoir. Produced by the award winning White Pine Pictures, this compelling film premiered to critical acclaim last year at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.

General Dallaire and filmmaker Patrick Reed will share their experiences of making the film in a Q&A following the screening.

Fight Like Soldiers Die Like Children

About the film

When you've been to hell and back, can you make peace with the memories? As UN Force Commander in Rwanda during the 1994 genocide Dallaire was forced to witness a massacre, when his pleas to the international community for help and intervention went ignored. Now Dallaire has a new mission: to end the use of child soldiers. Will Dallaire succeed where others have failed? Or will he once again be forced to look on as the world turns away?

About Courageous Campers

Courageous Campers was created in 2012 by Caleb Goodman. Its committee is comprised of dedicated volunteers, who are inspired by General Dallaire and share in his mission to empower underprivileged youth through transformative experiences.

About the Foundation

The General Roméo Dallaire Foundation is dedicated to the memory of Rwanda's genocide victims, and children affected by armed conflicts throughout the world. A charitable organization the Foundation supports disadvantaged youth at home in Canada, as well as abroad.

Though Courageous Campers, it provides underprivileged, immigrant and refugee youth with the summer camp experience. Campers gain a sense of optimism and self esteem, while learning to respect life and nature.

Through the Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative the Foundation funds groundbreaking research, advocacy and security-sector training to former child soldiers, with the mandate to end the use and recruitment of child soldiers worldwide.
